REPRINTING HENS JUST SPELLS BIRD...

The individual letters of the signage from the firm of J & G Innes Ltd. Printers & Publishers, former business at 20 Crossgate, are rearranged to create a new configuration of words.

The work is a reference to the building's long history of connection to the print industry. A building with a history of words, language and communication, the word-play of the anagram is a reference to the process of type-setting - particularly the process of typesetting by hand and the reuse of the individual metal letters to create a plate for a print run.
