JOHNATHAN RICHARDS

Site Specificity and the process of using paint as both medium and subject is the central theme to my practice. I create tactile three-dimensional paintings that use tone to articulate form and present the viewer with a surface with which they can interact.

Subsequently the painting gains volume, offering a way of presenting negative space and a sense of void to the viewer which is usually characterized through sculpture.
