SATURDAY 10TH OCTOBER
SILK DYING WORKSHOP
JEAN DUNCAN
An introduction to the use of resist dying techniques on silk. This day-long workshop would provide the opportunity to try some resist dying in the morning and then after lunch to use layers of silk and stitch to complete a piece of work. Jean Duncan is a visual artist and lecturer at Elmwood College in Cupar.

SCREENINGS IN THE PARK
FILM AT THE BANDSTAND
Outdoor screening among the trees of Cupar's Haugh Park, of Simon Yuill's film, Given To The People. The film explores the Pollok Free State, a camp in the woods of Pollok Estate, Glasgow, initiated by local resident, Colin Macleod, who began a tree-top protest against the building of the M77 motorway through Pollok Park in the early 1990s.

There will also be a screening of the film poem, Echoes of Voices on this evening.

HERITAGE WALK
STEVEN PENRICE

A guided walk around old Cupar with informative commentry by local amateur historian, Steven Penrice. Find out more about grave robbers and public hangings! The walk lasts approximately one and a half hours.

MONDAY 12TH OCTOBER
STORYTELLING FOR ADULTS
OWEN PILGRIM

Owen Pilgrim will be telling a story inspired by the historical tale of the Pittenweem witches. Interweaving legend, song and folklore, the tale is given a new life relating to the follies of our time.

SATURDAY 17TH OCTOBER
WALKABOUT/WRITEABOUT, A MORNING POETRY WORKSHOP WITH MAUREEN SANGSTER

A chance to explore some parts of Cupar, in particular Cupar Farmers Market in Bonnygate carpark, and then to write poems based on the experience. There is also the opportunity to then display works produced, if participants wish, in George Inn Pend (entrance to Bonnygate carpark).
Maureen Sangster, Poet, will lead the event. A warm welcome to all. No experience necessary.

THE ART OF RELIGION
EXHIBITION, WORKSHOP, AND MUSIC


An exhibition of local arts and crafts based loosely on the theme of religion and spirituality, in the enchanting surroundings of this old Scottish Episcopal Church. All Day Workshop - make your own stained glass window, perhaps taking inspiration from the beautiful East window above the altar. Nettie Roberts will be playing her clarsach harp in St James the Great Church as accompaniment to the exhibition 'The Art of Religion' from 2 - 3pm on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October.

SUNDAY 18TH OCTOBER
PIC 'N' MIX, EXHIBITION AND FILM
Work by local artists and craftmakers, including paintings, pottery, tapestry, glass and prints.
A Tale o' Twa Stanes - this short film, suitable for all ages, will be shown regularly throughout the day.

'The Stone of Scone is Scotland's crowning slab of marble. Known as Lia Fail, it was used by successive Pictish kings for their monarchs but centuries later, the order came from King Edward of England to steal it and carry it away to London. Did Edward get what he wanted? We shall see! A family short directed by Jock Ferguson for Herald Films.

TUESDAY 20TH OCTOBER
FILM NIGHT
PLUS CHAT WITH SCREENWRITER/PRODUCER DOUGLAS EADIE
’As An Eilean’ - an award winning film, screenwritten and co-produced by Cupar-based film maker, Douglas Eadie, 1993. An intriguing, dark tale of island life, set on a small, gaelic speaking island off the coast of Scotland. Secrets and ambiguity abound as the story weaves its way through themes of love, longing and prejudice. Subtitles when appropriate. Optional interval after 1 hour for refreshments. Douglas Eadie will be available to chat about the film after the screening.

SATURDAY 24TH OCTOBER
SIMPLE BOOK REPAIRS
JILL SAUNDERSON

Learn the skills that will enable you to do a simple repair on you favorite book in this day-long workshop. Book repairs are fun, fairly easy and very rewarding.  Just bring your own books, and an apron!A bookbinder at St. Andrews University for 20 years, Jill Saunderson repaired the books in the Special Collection.

SUNDAY 25TH OCTOBER
POETRY SLAM
Part of a larger Festival closing event at the silo on the final Sunday, the slam, compered by Milton Balgoni, features a number of poets battling it out for points awarded by the judges, who are selected from members of a sometimes unforgiving audience! The grand prize will be revealed on the night! Visit silo projects page for further information.
