"We want to transport a sense of possibility into the remaining public space. In our living for a week in a relative public setting, we created a good deal of amazement and a place for open communication."
- Folke Kobberling
My work explores themes such as community, utopia, transience and participation. I will be exploring Cupar on foot with my mobile social space - a purpose-built transformable tea-trolley/table. Setting up the space in random locations (pavement, park, derelict land), I make a pot of tea and invite passers-by to join me for a while and share their thoughts about the themes I am exploring. I endeavour to explore the ways in which we find meaning in life - where we feel we belong and how our environment affects this. Conversations are loosely structured allowing for the spontaneous and unexpected.
"The myriad of personal exchanges that took place everyday in the street created a strong sense of local identity."
- Jane Jacobs
The conversations over tea will (with permission) be documented by photo, video, or audio and become part
of the ongoing project, manifesting in an exhibition during the second week of the Festival.
